The Use of Ground Porous Material in Gas Lubrication

1980
Abstract The structural characteristics of face ground porous material were investigated and a model of flow was derived as a serial combination of a high non-linear surface resistance and a homogeneous porous bushing. Excellent dynamic characteristics were derived for externally pressurized gas bearings with ground porous walls. The agreement between the model and the experimental results was satisfactory in the range of pressures considered in gas lubrication.
