Preliminary structural studies of liposomes and vesicles in formamide

1992
We describe the first examples of liposomes and vesicles in formamide, a structured non-aqueous medium. Bilayer membranes were obtained after dispersion of lecithin (for liposomes) and dodecylalkyl- dimethylammonium bromide (for vesicles) in formamide. The structures of these systems are discussed and compared to those obtained in water.
