Design and Coil Protection of the High Current Density Autonomous Superconducting Magnets for Mine Sweeping
1996
In the framework of the Russian R&D Program on the application of superconductivity to mine-sweeping, a series of high current density, compact superconducting magnets was developed, produced and tested. The diameters of the magnets varied from 0.4 m to 1 m and stored energy varied from 30 kJ up to 2.7 MJ. A low operating current was chosen to reduce helium losses.
