Properties of edge magnetoplasmons in a degenerate 2d electron gas

1990
Abstract Edge magnetoplasmons in a degenerate 2D electron gas are studied under conditions of the quantum Hall effect. The magnetic field dependencies of the frequency and damping are obtained in samples of different mobilities. The dispersion law is found for different magnetic fields. We have studied also the size of the region near the sample edge where the main pan of the magnetoplasmon electric field is concentrated. The results obtained have been compared with the current theory. It may be concluded that this theory can describe qualitatively the frequency behaviour only.
