Inductively Coupled, Full Duplex Data Link for Use in Resonant Induction Wireless Charging

2019
Wireless power using resonant magnetic induction has been proposed as a potentially superior method of recharging the batteries of electric vehicles. However, unlike conductive charging, the control of wireless charging requires a complementary wireless data link. Several methods have been proposed for this, including IEEE 802.11 packet-based topologies, Bluetooth, and other RF systems. However, high power wireless charging requires a very low latency communication system that provides absolutely unambiguous node-to-node connectivity. The authors will present a novel near-field communications platform that is designed specifically for the needs of wireless charging.
