Protective Effect of Furosemide, Administered Using a Pressurized Metered Dose Inhaler and a Spacer Device, on the Bronchial Obstructive Response to Ultrasonically Nebulized Distilled Water

1992
We have previously shown that the inhalation of the loop diuretic furosemide, prevents the bronchial obstructive response to exercise (1), ultrasonically nebulized distilled water (UNH2O) (2), and allergen (3) in asthmatic patients. The aim of the present study was to investigate the protective effect of the drug on the UNH2O-induced obstructive reaction using a novel method of administration of the drug with a pressurized metered dose aerosol canister.
