How Good is Good Enough in CO2 Storage Modelling? Looking Back Over Three Generations of Models for the Otway Stage 2C Project

2019
Reservoir models are used in CO2 storage to make decisions about the viability of a project, the location of well and injection intervals, and to provide evidence to regulators that the storage will be secure and within permits. Stage 2C at the CO2CRC Otway Research Facility provides a useful test case to study the evolution of reservoir models from the early design to post-injection evaluation. Although uncertainty in the models has reduced over time, the original models have been demonstrated to be sufficient for conducting a successful project.
