Dystocia due to malpresentation and uterine inertia in a primigravid goat

A primigravid doe of about 1.8 years age was presented with the complaint of vulvar bleeding for last 3 days. According to the owner, the goat was in last week of gestation and had a fall 4 days back. Examination of the doe per vagina revealed presence of hooves of the hind limbs of the fetus in deep vagina and rest of the fetus was lying deep in the abdominal cavity. The owner of the doe did not observe any kind of straining to deliver the fetus and similar staus was found during clinical examination. The dow was immediately treated with calcium and DNS (5%) through IV route. By forced traction, two dead foeti were delivered, the first fetus was in posterior longitudinal presentation and second one was in anterior longitudinal presentation. The dystocia occurred in the goat was due to the malpresentation, primary uterine inertia and also due to twinning. After delivery of the foeti and subsequent therapeutic management, the goat was found normal and stable from 3rd day of treatment.
