Accelerating Adaptation in the Global South

2021
This session will explore how to promote action-orientated adaptation research in the Global South at the scale needed. Action-orientated research for adaptation is research that is iterative, transdisciplinary and co-produced, creating enhanced long-term understanding and mutually beneficial knowledge that is usable in practice. In this session, we will hear about the panel’s experience applying action-orientated research and explore what are the enabling factors that allow action-orientated research to happen and the findings be used. There will be a critique of the challenges in conducting this research and panelists will speak to what approaches have worked for them, or not. There will be insights into what are the multi- and trans-disciplinary enabling conditions that would allow others to more widely adopt this research approach that listens, communicates and responds to the needs of communities.
