Dx = Extremely Dangerous: Prognostic Validity for Future Violence.

1998
ABSTRACT This study followed 44 subjects who had been diagnosed as extremely dangerous during placement in an institution for adjudicated juvenile delinquents. Criteria included post-release criminal behavior, sentences imposed for such behavior, and type of crime. Follow-up for periods ranging between two years post-release and more than ten years post-release found that the vast majority had been re-involved in crime; of those who had recidivated, only one had not been involved in a violent offense. Results suggest that for some proportion of subjects diagnosed as extremely dangerous, the likelihood of re-offending criminally, particularly violently, is very high.
