2019
Objective To analyze the epidemics and characteristics of human immunodeficiency virus/acquired immune deficiency syndrome (HIV/AIDS) among population aged 50 years old and above from 2012 to 2017 in Beijing, and to provide evidences for publicity and education of AIDS. Methods The data of reported HIV infected patients and AIDS patients during 2012-2017 in Beijing were collected from the National Basic Information System for HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control. SPSS 20.0 software was used for the statistical analysis. Results By the end of 2017, 1 937 cases of HIV/AIDS were reported in the population aged 50 years old and above. From 2012 to 2017, the annual proportions of the cases in this population among all cases reported within each year were 7.88%, 8.86%, 9.58%, 9.04%, 10.15% and 11.74%, respectively; and the proportions increased year by year. The infected patients were mainly males with a male-to-female ratio of 7.17:1. Among the cases, homesexual transmission was the main transmission route among males (54.12%) while most female cases were infected via heterosexual transmission (97.47%). For HIV/AIDS patients aged 50 years old and above, 71.14% was detected by active surveillance in the medical institutions. Conclusions The population aged 50 years old and above should be listed as the key population of HIV/AIDS prevention and control in Beijing. Scientific prevention and control measures should be taken based on the epidemiological characteristics. Key words: HIV/AIDS; Epidemic; Epidemiological characteristics; Eledrly
