Measuring Stress Response via the EEG - A Review
2021
One of the most significant factors influencing a person’s well-being is stress. It can be measured via some standardized questionnaires, however, they have some major drawbacks. Firstly, one needs time to fill out a questionnaire and secondly, one needs to interpret the questions. Since physiological measures can be obtained without active conscious involvement, they are generally much more reliable and faster than the questionnaires. One of the most commonly used physiological measures is the electroencephalograph (EEG), whose high temporal and spacial resolution allows real-time emotion recognition. This paper constitutes a summary of different EEG signal’s features used to measure and quantify human response to a stressor.
