Analysis Of Polluted Air Masses Effecting The AreaOf Eastern Germany During A SANA Episode

The regional air pollution model system EURAD has been applied to a SANA special observation period in August/September 1991. The transport pathways and distances of polluted air masses are analysed using trajectories calculated from the predicted fields of the meteorological mesoscale model MM5 - a part of the EURAD system. Furthermore the regional budget of ozone for East Germany is calculated using mesoscale chemistry transport simulations. The dynamical and chemical processes which are responsible for the generation and removal of increased photooxidant concentrations are discussed.
