A simple theory for “side-wall curl”

A simple theory is proposed for “side-wall curl.” The theory is based on springback of a strip subject to bending and straightening, which saturates the strain-hardened moment in the strip. The elementary formula arising from the theory is used to check some recent published experimental results, and the agreement is found to be good.
