Ring opening reactions of deltacyclene epoxides

Abstract A series of epoxides from reaction of substituted deltacyclenes with meta -chloroperbenzoic acid are reported. These compounds were found to react with BF 3 ·Et 2 O in MeOH/H 2 O to yield ring-opened products. Rearrangements were noted in some cases depending on the substitution pattern.
