Mentorías como estrategia educativa ante el rezago académico

The degree in psychology at the UJAT open the institutional mentoring program that comes from tutoring; have to aims to strengthen the comprehensive training of new students during their first school years; facilitate their academic and social integration in the institution through educational support and orientation strategies. The instructor mentors advise on subjects with the highest failure rates. The present work was an ethnographic study that through a focus group, the mentoring expressed the experience in academic advising and its effectiveness. The conclusions were: the mentoring program is insufficient to address the issue of decreasing educational backwardness and increasing academic retention. The support of the authorities is important to stimulate the monitored student through a mentor to carry out their consultations and complete them, likewise reinforce the work of the mentor-instructor, the teacher-instructor and the tutor with a recognition.
