Influences of Baoshen granule(保肾冲剂) on nitric oxide, endothelin and calcitonin gene related peptide in rabbits with mesangial proliferative glomerulonephritis

Objective:To investigate the protective effects of Baoshen granule(保肾冲剂) on the kidneys of mesangial proliferative glomerulonephritis (MesPGN) rabbits.Methods:Twentyfour rabbits were randomly divided into normal group,model group,and Baoshen granule treatment group.Changes of the levels of blood lipid,serum nitric oxide(NO),plasma endothelin(ET),plasma calcitonin gene related peptide(CGRP),and pathology were observed.Results:Baoshen granule could increase the amounts of serum NO and plasma CGRP,and reduce the levels of total cholesterol(TC) and low density lipoproteincholesterol(LDLC) at 8 weeks.Plasma ET decreased after rabbits received Baoshen granule.The pathologic changes were abated significantly in the rabbits feeded by Baoshen granule.Conclusion:Baoshen granule may protect the kidney of MesPGN rabbits and decrease plasma ET,it may be a mechanism of this action.
