Apuntes sobre violencia, exclusión social y salud colectiva
2017
In Mexico violence increased to unheared of
levels starting in 2007 when the government declared
a “War on drugsâ€. From 2007 to 2014 165
thousand homicides were committed and about
27 thousands disappeared being young people the
main victims. It is analyzed how the implementation
of the neoclassic-neoliberal model produced
systemic social exclusion and a new ideology with
the values of power, money and consumption. The
violent spiral and documented state terrorism are
characterized and how the interrelation between
the criminal economy and economic criminality
subsidizes to the national economy. The Ayotzinapa
massacre meant a turning point mobilizing
the population against governmental arbitrariness,
concealment and lies. The necessary conditions
to reverse systemic exclusion and violence and
heal the wounds of the social fabric are outlined.
