Apuntes sobre violencia, exclusión social y salud colectiva

In Mexico violence increased to unheared of levels starting in 2007 when the government declared a “War on drugs”. From 2007 to 2014 165 thousand homicides were committed and about 27 thousands disappeared being young people the main victims. It is analyzed how the implementation of the neoclassic-neoliberal model produced systemic social exclusion and a new ideology with the values of power, money and consumption. The violent spiral and documented state terrorism are characterized and how the interrelation between the criminal economy and economic criminality subsidizes to the national economy. The Ayotzinapa massacre meant a turning point mobilizing the population against governmental arbitrariness, concealment and lies. The necessary conditions to reverse systemic exclusion and violence and heal the wounds of the social fabric are outlined.
