Investigations of power-generating coals by the method of chemical fractionation and an estimate of their fouling properties

A review is given of methods of chemical fractionation used in investigating power-generating fuels. The method mastered in Ural VTI, containing an additional stage, can be used to assess the tendency of strong iron deposits to form on coals. On the basis of the results of chemical fractionation of coals, with the content of the mineral matter varying in a wide range, methods were developed to forecast their fouling properties.
