Progress of vasoactive substances in portal hypertension

Significant progress in recognizing mechanisms of portal hypertension pathophysiology has been done in recently years.However,some unclear topics still exist.Portal hypertension is primarily caused by the increase in resistance to portal outflow and secondly by an increase in splanchnic blood flow.Vasoactive substances which are activated in portal hypertension play important roles in regulating the resistance of portal outflow and splanchnic blood flow.This paper reviews the recent advances of vasoactive substances in portal hypertension.
