Experimental Realization of Full-parameter Transformation Optics Media

2020
By engineering the spatial dispersion of metamaterial, we demonstrate the experimental realization of full-parameter transformation optics (TO) media. Such a medium allows near 100% transmission for all TE polarized incident waves from free space, regardless of both incidence and polarization angles. Its constitutive parameters tensor has a diagonal form $\text{diag} (a,\ a,\ 1/a)$ , which exactly satisfies the model of uniaxial perfectly matched layer (UPML). The omnidirectionally reflectionless transparency is well explained by the model of UPML and TO media, verified by both simulation and experimental measurement. Such a universal approach can be easily extended from microwave to terahertz wave frequencies.
