: Patients with recurrent thrombosis may have one of the thrombophilias described in recent literature. These clotting disorders may involve abnormalities in platelets, fibrinogen, plasminogen, protein C, protein S, or antithrombin III. There is usually a family history of clotting disorders, since most of these are inherited in an autosomal dominant pattern.
