A strong community is one in which children and youth are physically and emotionally healthy and safe, are able to learn according to their potential, and are demonstrating age-appropriate personal skills and responsibility by participating in social, economic, and civic life. In democratic societies, people of all ages, young and old, can and often do organize in their neighborhoods and communities to promote children’s well-being.
