ABSTRACT
This research approaches the Legal Culture. The research objective was the legal culture of
law and pedagogy students related with the educational right of the arrested, more specifically, the comprehension of the students from the UFMA in Imperatriz. The main objective is to
measure the legal culture between both population approached directed to the social education
area inside the Penal Execution. As specifics objectives we have the demonstration of what is
legal culture and its importance on the law science, quantify by survey the legal culture of
both populations, identify variations in the legal understanding about the arrested education
and verify the differences between the populations. In the theoretical foundation we used the
concepts of Lawrence M. Friedman about legal culture, as well as others authors that spoke
about this subject. Besides we have concepts of penal execution extracted of the national doctrine. In the methodology we used the phenomenological method held by the statistic method
implemented in survey both to collect the data and to discuss them. As results we deducted
that there is a legal culture between both populations a little different and that the populations
understand the education right as a universal right, being also a right of the arrested.
