Use of Information and Communication Technology in Spanish School Libraries

The paper presents the degree of availability and use of information and communication technology in the Spanish school libraries. The data used are part of a wider statistical study on the situation of school libraries conducted in 2011. The analysis of the results takes as its starting point the previous comparative study of school libraries by the same team in 2005. Overall, we perceive an improvement both in the provision of libraries and the services they offer based on the technologies. Teachers and, above all, pupils, increased their use of electronic equipment with different behaviour depending on age. Keywords: Information technology, school libraries, Spain;
