Apparatus and process for evaluating medical services.

2002
A method implemented by a computer to determine the performance of clinics and other medical facilities, and improve the care and treatment of patients who are to undergo repetitive extracorporeal blood treatments, whose installation is selected from the group consisting of a clinic , hospital, medical treatment, patient treatment facility, or health care facility, and physician office; which process comprises the steps of: - measuring the effectiveness of each treatment per patient using a blood purification indicator parameter; - measuring the performance of each treatment per patient by determining the time devoted to each patient; - determining the frequency of said treatments for each patient; - determining the total costs of said treatments per patient; - calculating the total costs of said treatments for each patient; - calculating variations dela efficacy of such treatments for each patient; - calculating the variations of performance of the treatment for each patient; - calculating variations of costs of said treatments for each patient; - identify the demographics of each facility, including the geographical location of it; - entering the data into a central processing unit (CPU); - said data comprise said effectiveness and measured performance of treatments per patient, the frequency of treatment per patient, said costs of treatment per patient, and variations in the efficiency, performance, and cost of such treatment per patient, said patient characteristics, and said demographics of each facility; - storing said data in said CPU; - retrieve the data from the CPU; and - statistically analyzing said data with the CPU to complete a sigma comprising a standard deviation around a mean of said data and correlating said data to determine the performance of said facility.
