Ferrocenyl ligands. Part 4. Structure of [1,1'-bis(diphenylphosphino)-3,3'-bis(trimethylsilyl)ferrocene]dichlorocobalt

1, 1'-Bis(diphenylphosphino)-3,3'-bis(trimethylsilyl)ferrocene acts as a bidentate ligand when reacted with CoCl 2 , producing a tetrahedral P 2 Cl 2 coordination sphere that is significantly distorted. The influence of the trimethylsilyl groups in this distortion is considerable, restraining the ferrocenyl moiety from adopting the eclipsed configuration preferred for binding tetrahedral ions
