THE ROLLS-ROYCE SPEY MARINE GAS TURBINE

1990
The Spey power units are some of the most efficient simple cycle gas turbines in the world. The Spey has an impressive aero pedigree, both military and civil, and in its current marine form incorporates advanced aero engine technology, which has permitted significant simple cycle improvements. For the future, the well-proven Spey core ideally lends itself to the step change in thermal efficiency demanded by the British Royal Navy's planning for the next generation of warship; in its intercooled/regenerative (ICR) form, it provides significant fuel saving, particularly at part power.
