Redescription ofNematobibothrioides histoidii Noble, 1974 (Digenea: Didymozooidea)

1980
Several specimens ofNematobibothrioides histoidii Noble, 1974, were found in the sun-fishMola mola from the north-east Atlantic. A redescription based on paratypes and new, available material is presented. This differs from the original description in three major points: the species has a distinct pharynx, the diameter of the ventral sucker is a third to a quarter of the body width, and the cells of Mehlis' gland are scattered in the parenchyma through a large part of the body. Some functional aspects concerning transport of nutrition and genital products through the body are briefly discussed.
