FOLLOW THAT CAR

2000
Although officially only trained police drivers should normally take part in high-speed pursuits, it is considered extremely difficult to ensure that all police drivers taking part in a pursuit, or driving to an emergency, are trained to the necessary standard. The author considers that the excitement generated by such a pursuit produces a flow of adrenalin that blocks out fear, caution and perhaps common sense. It is suggested that all police drivers should take a more rigorous and regular training programme in the same way as authorised firearms officers.
