Electron wave resonances in the Cherenkov-type microwave device

1998
Electron wave resonances in the Cherenkov-type microwave device based on a dielectric sleeve are investigated with the help of the linear theory. For such devices, the notion of longitudinal electron oscillations is introduced. The dependences of their generation wavelengths and starting currents on the energy of electrons in the beam are investigated. The longitudinal structures of the electric field and the convection current of the E 01,27 electron oscillation near the generation frequency are given. The generation band of the device is determined when the electron energy and the beam current take the values that are characteristic of operation conditions. Theoretical results are compared with known experimental data.
