Experimental Results of Comparison Between Velocity Integration and OTF Position on the Sea

2005
GPS position by the velocity integration is applied to find the buoy positions that were set up to estimate the wave direction. There are two positioning cases by the velocity integration method. One is a point positioning and the other is differential positioning. In this paper, on the basis of the 3D measurement results of five buoys on the sea, comparative results between the point position by the velocity integration method and the kinematic GPS position by the OTF (On The Fly) are shown. Additionally, some error characteristics of the position by velocity integration are analyzed. Finally, the effect of differential mode is shown. From these experimental results, in these two positioning cases respectively, the 3D displacements of movable body could be obtained by this velocity integration method accurately.
