Survey on Cognition of Mercury Hazard of Nursing Students

Objective To understand the measures to deal with the damaged mercury thermometers and the cognition of mercury hazard in nursing students,and to offer theoretical reference for occupational protection education.Methods The cognition of mercury knowledge of 109 nursing students was surveyed by a self-designed mercury questionnaire.Results 83.5% of the nursing students shared the experience of breaking the thermometer,but only 30.3% of them knew how to deal with it.Though 91.8% of the nursing students knew mercury hazard,but few of them knew the existence form of mercury and reaction principle of it.Conclusion Nursing students lack of knowledge about dealing with accidents involving mercury and hazard of mercury.Mercury hazard education should be promoted.
