PREPARATION AND APPLICATION OF GRAFTED FE (III) PROTOORPHYRIN (IX) / MODIFIED NANOPOROUS SILICA AS A BIOCATALYST FOR OXIDATIVE REACTIONS

2011
MCM-41 and amine-modified MCM-41 were synthesized. Then nanobiocatalysts were prepared through three different methods to graft hemin onto the modified nanosilicas of MCM-41 via the formation of the amide bonds. These biocatalysts were characterized by Atomic Absortion, IR, XRD, diffuse reflectance UV/Vis spectroscopies. These biocatalysts operated as a peroxidase enzyme model. They were compared to each other by oxidation of ABTS in the presence of hydrogen peroxide and tert-butyl peroxide. Kinetic parameters consist of initial rates, rate constant, V max , K m , K cat , catalytic efficiency and turn over number were determined for the biocatalyst.
