교원의 노동조합 몰입에 영향을 미치는 결정요인 분석

2001
The purpose of this study is to serve with some implications the development of the relations between teacher unions and educational authorities by finding out some factors which are thought to affect teachers' commitment to the Korean Teacher Union, by analyzing relative influence of the factors, and then by determining why teachers join the Union and why they join its activities. The results of the study are as follows: First, it was found that teachers' commitment to union shows great difference according to their genders, teaching career, school grades, types of school foundation, positions in union, and joining time. That is, male teachers have higher commitment than female; high school teachers have the highest commitment, while elementary teachers have the lowest; private school teachers have higher commitment that public school teachers; members who joined before the legalization of their union have higher commitment than those who joined after. Teachers' career didn't any significant difference. Therefore, it is thought that teachers' background variables should be considered in the labor-management decision-making processes. Second, it was indicated that the factor which exerts the highest influence on teachers' commitment to their union is the attitudes of the Ministry and Offices of Education and the next is their labor union satisfaction. So it is thought that it is critical for the educational authorities to have more democratic and flexible attitudes for the betterment of their relations with teachers' union. On the other hand, senior officials of union are supposed to make more sincere efforts to hear their members opinions and expectation in order to boost their organizational commitment. Colleagues' attitudes towards their union appeared as one major factor, which may be thought that teachers' social experiences with their colleagues may influence their commitment to union activities.
