Effects of Adding Ce on Corrosion Electrochemistry Behaviors of Zr_(55)Al_(10)Ni_5Cu_(30) Alloy in Na_2SO_4 Solution

2009
Corrosion behaviors of Zr55Al10Ni5Cu30 and(Zr55Al10Ni5Cu30)0.97Ce0.03 bulk amorphous alloys and their corresponding crystal alloys in 0.50?mol·L-1?Na2SO4 solution were studied by potentiodynamic polarization experiments and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS).The results show that Zr55Al10Ni5Cu30 and(Zr55Al10Ni5Cu30)0.97Ce0.03 bulk amorphous alloys and their corresponding crystal alloys in 0.50?mol·L-1?Na2SO4 solution all produce passive phenomenon, when the(Zr55Al10Ni5Cu30)0.97Ce0.03 bulk amorphous alloy has two passive phenomenon.Zr55Al10Ni5Cu30 and(Zr55Al10Ni5Cu30)0.97Ce0.03 bulk amorphous alloys have lower current densities as compared with the Zr55Al10Ni5Cu30 and(Zr55Al10Ni5Cu30)0.97Ce0.03 crystal alloys.Both(Zr55Al10Ni5Cu30)0.97Ce0.03 bulk amorphous alloy and(Zr55Al10Ni5Cu30)0.97Ce0.03 crystal alloy have smaller current densities, and therefore corrosion resistance increased.Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS) plots of four alloys are composed of single capacitive loop.Zr55Al10Ni5Cu30 and(Zr55Al10Ni5Cu30)0.97Ce0.03 bulk amorphous alloys have larger charge transfer resistance and better corrosion resistance than their corresponding crystal alloys.
