Large variable speed generators design and their control: a revisit in 2019

The paper presents a panoramic view of various large power variable speed generators design and their control in hydro and wind energy conversions. Recent systems that reached industrial stage and new developments are discussed in terms of their topologies, merits, demerits and some case study optimal designs of generators and their PWM converters reliable control.
