Evaluation of Indoor Environmental Conditions of Micro-fermentation Deep Litter Pig Building in Southeast China

2010
Micro-fermentation deep litter pig-breeding model, which was imported from Japan to Southeast China about 4 years ago, is made of wood dust, rice hull, rice bran mixed with special micro-organisms. To assess the applicability of the deep litter breeding system in southeast of China, it is necessary to measure and evaluate the indoor thermal environment and air quality, pig production performance. In this study, indoor air temperature, relative humidity, concentrations of ammonia, odor, fine particulate matter (PM 10 ) were measured in micro-fermentation deep litter pig room with mechanically ventilation in 2009 spring and early summer, late autumn and winter. The daily mean values of temperature, relative humidity, NH 3 , odor, PM 10 concentrations were 26.8±3.8 ?, 66.0%±10.1%, 2.50±0.55 ppm, 100.4±68.2 OU, 0.12±0.04 mg/m 3 respectively in 2009 spring and early summer, and 11.6±2.5 ?,77.1%±7.7%, 0.74±0.23 ppm, 67.5±26.1OU, 0.20±0.06 mg/m 3 in 2009 late autumn and winter. The mean daily growth rates of pig were 629.57 g·d -1 ·pig -1 and 625.36 g·d -1 ·pig -1 .
