The incus in middle ear surgery.

Two methods of by-passing the non-functioning or missing incus have been described. In our experience the hearing gain resulting has been quite gratifying. We now feel that these somewhat unusual problems can be handled with the same expectation of success that routine stapedectomy for stapes fixation enjoys.
