Response of alfalfa cultivars to sulfur

Sulfur increased the yield of eight cultivars in 4 out of 5 crop years, the largest increase occurring in the 5th year. DuPuits was the highest yielding cultivar under deficient conditions and the most sulfur responsive, with a yield increase more than twice that of Rhizoma and Narragansett. Sulfur also improved plant vigor and stand density.
