Addressing Personalization Issues With Trainees Using Solution-Focused Supervision

2016
Solution-focused and strength-based approaches continue to grow as models for the training and preparation of counselors. We believe that they are appropriate frameworks for handling difficult personalization issues trainees experience in their work with clients. In this paper, we describe and discuss solution-focused supervision and further demonstrate its application in helping trainees address personalization issues through a case example. We hope that counselor educators and supervisors across the world will consider the cross-cultural application potential of solution-focused supervision and find the material presented in this paper useful for training purposes. We conclude by discussing research implications.
