Modelling and Analysis of Grid-tied Solar PV System

2019
This paper addresses the grid-tied photovoltaic (PV) system. The power generated from PV is clean and ecofriendly. Moreover, the solar energy abundant in nature hence it’s a better option to use solar PV panels to generate the electricity. However, the PV power has wider applications in domestic, industrial, and agriculture fields, etc., the PV systems are used either standalone or grid-tied. In standalone systems for continuous operation, a huge number of batteries are required which increase the cost as well as reduce the overall efficiency. However, in the grid-tied system, the generated power is fed to the grid. In order to utilize the maximum capacity of the PV panel is achieved with the help of maximum power point tracking (MPPT) techniques. Here, one of the most popular methods of incremental conductance (Inc-Cond) MPPT algorithm is used to track the maximum power point (MPP). However, in grid-tied PV systems inverter control plays a vital role as maintaining DC-link voltage and power flow current control. The prior one achieved using outer voltage control and late using inner current control. Moreover, the synchronization of the solar PV system with the grid is taken care of by a phase-locked loop (PLL) and all these design and performances are observed in MATLAB-Simulink environment.
