The modulatory peptide SCPb inhibits feeding in the mollusc, Lymnaea stagnalis

1991
Abstract 1. Injection of SCP b (10 −5 M) into the pond snail Lymnaea stagnalis inhibits both the feeding response to sucrose and spontaneous rasping. 2. Application of 10 −5 M SCP b to the isolated CNS has no effect on the fictive feeding rhythm. 3. These results differ from those from other molluscs where SCP b often has an excitatory effect on the feeding system.
