DIAGNOSIS OF CHLAMYDIAL INFECTIONS

Described are preparations to be used for diagnosis of chlamydial infections comprising a lipopolysaccharide of chemotype Re isolated from Re mutants of gram-negative bacteria, such as Salmonella minnesota, Salmonella typhimurium, Escherichia coli or Proteus mirabilis strains und cross-reacting with chlamydial glycolipids (group antigen). The preparations can be used for the detection of chlamydial infections, for example by serological or immunological methods such as the countercurrentimmuno-electrophoresis, passive haemagglutination, HIG, EIA, FIA or RIA. The preparations can also be used for the production of chlamydial group-specific antibodies.
