Study on compressive properties of fiber reinforced granulated slag concrete after high temperature

2011
Experiments were carried out to investigate the compressive properties of fiber reinforced granulated slag concrete after exposure to high temperatures. Based on the experimental observation, the sensitivity of granulated slag content, steel fiber dosage, and polypropylene (PP) fiber dosage on the residual compressive strength of the concrete after being subjected to elevated temperature was systematically examined. Test data indicates that exposure to high temperature causes significant deterioration in the compressive strength of concrete, and variation tendencies of cubic compressive strength and axial compressive strength are similar; the inclusion of granulated slag, PP fiber and steel fiber all improves the residual compressive properties of concrete to some degree. Equations are proposed to predict the residual compressive strength of concrete incorporating with granulated slag, PP fiber, steel fiber after being heated to high temperatures up to 800°C.
