ROLE OF PAPER MILLS IN THE INDUSTRIALIZATION OF BACKWARD AREAS WITH SPECIAL REFERENCE TO KUMAUN DIVISION OF UTTARAKHAND

Paper Mills which are primarily agro –based industries occupy a prominent place in the industrial development of an area. These industries put locally available human and material resources to significant industrial use and also help in strengthening the industrial base of that area. Paper mills aim at providing employment to surplus population, increasing the productivity in agricultural sector, and income of the farmers resulting in promotion of overall regional balanced economic development which is need of the hour. This paper explains how the paper mills help in accelerating the pace of industrialization in an industrially backward area.
