A simple structure for reducing gas-flow into a PIG discharge column

Abstract We present a simple idea which can be used to enhance the yield of a Penning source. A small tube is attached to each end of the plasma column in order to decrease the gas-flow into it. The gas-flow could be approximately halved; the yield of Ar 6+ was increased by a factor of 6 and that of Ar 7+ by 10, as expected.
