High-power dual-rod Yb:YAG laser

Summary form only given. We recently described a high-brightness single-rod Yb:YAG power oscillator using a hollow lens duct for pump delivery. The hollow lens duct provides increased flexibility in resonator design, because the laser rod can be located at any point. We describe a higher power hollow-lens-duct system utilizing two Yb:YAG rods for bifocusing compensation. The maximum output power achieved is 1080 W at a total diode pump power of 3930 W and an electrical-optical efficiency of 12.3%.
