Powerado: How to Teach Renewables?

2008
A sustainable energy policy can only be implemented successfully with the positive attention of children and young grown ups. But there is an obvious gap in teaching pupils and training the teachers. It seems to be, that teaching renewables only could be possible for higher education. An analysis of possible materials for teaching renewables at schools and at kindergarten has shown that there are only few suitable materials. Furthermore university courses or training courses for teachers about renewables are lacking too. But when the teachers haven ’ t been taught in renewables, how could they teach renewables? Within our project powerado — www.powerado.de — we have developed materials and training courses for teaching renewables. The evaluation of the materials and the acceptance of teachers have shown, that renewables can be taught with fun. The R&D project is supported by the BMU Federal Ministry of the Environment, Nature Conservation und Nuclear Safety.
