Improving medical students' access to teaching through Google: a 3-month pilot study

2018
Medical students are required to assimilate vast amounts of information for exams, as well as devoting time to honing clinical skills. Clinical teaching is therefore often opportunistic and spontaneous, equally restricted by doctors’ clinical commitments. In response to this challenge we designed an online teaching programme for final year medical students approaching their examinations. Every week over three months, we used the quiz setting in Google Forms to distribute fifteen multiple choice questions, written by junior doctors, with the links released on a designated Whatsapp group.  Answers and explanations were provided immediately on completion. This teaching programme provided teaching, revision, and practice of examination technique for students.  It received extremely good feedback and we are looking forward to rolling it out next year on a wider scale.
